Brigid Spina was born in Dublin, Ireland, and has lived in 7 different states, from Pennsylvania to Texas and North Carolina to California. She graduated from the University of the Pacific in 1991 with a B.A. in both English and psychology. She received an M.A. in elementary education in 1995 from UAB and taught 5 th grade at Clay Elementary for 4 years before setting aside time to rear a family.
When she wasn’t in the classroom, she was passionately passing on the Faith. She taught a Catholic pre-school program called Kids for Jesus for 5 years, 5th-grade religious education for 7 years at Our Lady of the Valley, and many adult Bible studies. She substituted at Oak Mountain Elementary and Intermediate schools for 3 years prior to reinstating her teaching certification and becoming Saint Rose’s 4th-grade teacher in 2017.
Brigid considers herself an ongoing student of her Catholic faith and enjoys sewing, woodworking, gardening, and painting furniture. Her favorite time is spent with her husband of 28 years, her 4 children, and her dogs, Charlie and Barkley. She is honored to be working alongside the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecelia at Saint Rose Academy.
