Is Saint Rose a Roman Catholic school?

Yes, Saint Rose Academy is an independent Catholic school owned and operated by the Dominican Sisters of the Saint Cecilia Congregation.

 

Is Saint Rose part of the Diocese of Birmingham?

No, Saint Rose is a privately owned school and is not a part of the diocese.

 

Where is Saint Rose located?

We are located on the south side of Birmingham on 22nd Street South, which runs parallel to the Elton B. Stephens Expressway. Click here for directions.

 

What are the school hours?

Classes are in session from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, and from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

 

Is after-school care available?

Yes, after-school care is available for all grades and lasts until 5:30 p.m.

 

Is lunch provided?

Lunch is provided by Christian Catering and is available for grades 1-8, Monday through Thursday, in the lunchroom located in our Gymnasium. Lunches are to be purchased at the beginning of each month.  Please click here to place your order(s). Students in grades 3K-5K bring their own lunch each day and eat in their Primary building. 

 

When is school closed for holidays?

How are inclement weather days announced?

Parents will receive a text message and email from the school whenever there is an unscheduled school closing.

 

Is Mass offered at Saint Rose?

Yes, the sacrifice of the Mass is offered every Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. Family members and friends are always welcomed and encouraged to attend.

 

When can I apply for admission?

Applications are accepted year-round.

 

What documents are required for an application?

Students applying for admission to grades 1-8 must submit:

  • An Admission Recommendation from current principal.
  • An Admission Recommendation from current homeroom teacher.
  • The latest report card.

In addition, students seeking admission to grades 6-8 must provide:

  • An Admission Recommendation from current Mathematics teachers.
  • An Admission Recommendation from current English teacher.

May I visit the school?

Yes, we welcome prospective parents and students to visit Saint Rose Academy. Tours may be scheduled at any time by calling the Director of Admissions, Vivian Hults, at (205) 933-0549. Prospective students applying for admission in grades 1-8 are also invited to spend a day attending classes at Saint Rose Academy.

 

What are the age requirements for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten?

Students entering 3K must be 3 years old on or before June 30th, while students entering 4K and 5K must be 4 and 5 years old, respectively, on or before September 1st.

 

What are the costs of tuition?

Tuition can be found on the second page of our application form.  Please contact our Business Office for details on tuition costs for enrolling four or more children in a family.

 

Does Saint Rose Academy offer tuition assistance?

Yes. Saint Rose Academy is committed to making private education as affordable as possible. Parents in need of tuition assistance are asked to complete a SMART Tuition Aid form as part of the application process, which enables us to objectively assess the financial need of each applicant.

 

What tuition payment options are available?

All tuition, after school care, sports and activities fees will be billed by and paid through Saint Rose Academy by check or Direct Bank Account Deduction.  The first payment for tuition is due in July, before the beginning of the school year. We currently offer the following payment plans for tuition:

  1. Annually (July)
  2. Semi-Annually (July and December)
  3. Quarterly (July, October, January, April)
  4. 9 payments (July-March)

How much is the application fee?

The application fee is $35. Payment is part of the application process and must be submitted in order to complete the application. This is a non-refundable fee.

 

What do I do when my child is sick and will miss school?

Please call the main office and leave a message to let the school know your child will not be attending school that day, and to make any necessary arrangements for homework and assignments. An absence note must be handed in to the homeroom teacher upon the student’s return to school.
