Academics

Saint Rose Academy maintains standards of academic excellence and prepares its students for higher levels of education. St. Rose students are guided to love knowledge and to excel scholastically, and this is why many of our graduates regularly qualify for Honors and Advanced Placement classes in high school.

At Saint Rose we teach a rich selection of disciplines that include religion, art, history, poetry, literature, sociology, science and foreign languages.  Each curriculum is designed to deepen knowledge, but most importantly to expose students to the organic connections between the disciplines. We place a lot of importance on the instruction of Latin, the universal language of the Catholic Church, which begins in grade 3 and which becomes a valuable tool for learning other disciplines. We also offer Spanish starting in grade 6, and provide online platforms to multilingual students wishing to master their foreign language. At Saint Rose we are also committed to the study of the Sciences. Our strong curriculum emphasizes the investigative nature of science and teaches a deeper understanding of the scientific process. Each semester, the top science students in grades 6-8 are selected for the Science Enrichment Program, which offers the opportunity to visit the research facilities at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, interact with career scientists, and carry out hands-on activities using top-notch laboratory equipment. Our comprehensive fine arts program consisting of Music and Art is designed to make a significant contribution to student learning and personal growth, and together with the other subjects, it develops in each student discernment of the presence of God in the world.
